Dedicated and thorough garden design
“Tom visited pre-Covid to discuss the design for my depressing grey L-shaped garden. He was very thorough in his questioning, measuring and photography to make sure I ended up with something that suited my lifestyle and needs and the design he came up with was indeed stunning! Then of course Covid hit, suppies dried up, landscapers could not finish jobs or take on new ones plus prices went through the roof! Tom has kept in touch throughout the 4 years it has taken to get the garden to where it is now. Compromises had to be made and its not quite finished even yet but this week Tom did the planting and it is well on the way to being the stunning garden he designed. He is approachable, efficient, professional, thorough, reliable and loyal and I have no hesitation in recommending him for your gardening requirements”

Professional and efficient hedge planting
“Tom and the team provided a hedge planting and design for a small front property garden . Tom was very professional and engaged fantastically. The cost for the job was competitive with little margin included for the price of the actual materials. From start to finish, I was very impressed by the professionalism, the service, work and on going communication from Tom and his team. Paul who completed the work done a fantastic job. Would highly recommend this service to anyone seeking expert garden design and horticultural services.”

2. Glesga Garden Guy Ltd.

Address: 6 Claythorn Ave
Phone: +44 141 556 4053
Business hours:
- Monday to Friday – 8 AM to 8 PM
- Saturday – 9 AM to 1 PM
Glesga Garden Guy handles all kinds of residential landscaping from full garden makeovers to fencing and decking. Their work includes leveling uneven gardens, installing artificial grass, building retaining walls, and even designing driveways.
An example of their work is turning a sloped garden into a flat area with stairs, planters, and a patio. They’ve also handled large-scale projects like removing trees, filling ponds, and installing sunken trampolines or putting greens.
One of their strengths is clear communication and planning before starting a project. They also offer 3D garden design, which helps homeowners see what the finished space will look like before any work begins.
Their team is experienced in dealing with tricky spaces, like uneven ground or drainage problems. They also work through different weather conditions to get the job done within a reasonable timeframe.
They aim to be upfront about costs so there are no surprises. However, delays can sometimes push back a project, though they keep clients updated when that happens.
The main downside is that they don’t take on commercial projects, so businesses will need to look elsewhere. But for residential work, they offer a good mix of design, functionality, and quality craftsmanship.
Turning garden dreams into reality
“Alec and his team were genuinely a pleasure to deal with from our first meeting to discuss the job and the ideas we had through to completion of the landscaping of our back garden. They brought our ideas to life and gave us a garden better than we ever could have imagined. Their quality of work and attention to detail is second to none. No shortcuts taken and no surprise cost increases. An honest, hardworking and extremely friendly bunch of guys who are very good at what they do. Would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone looking for landscaping etc. to be done. If you’re looking for the best then these guys will deliver it.”

Expert craftsmanship with a personal touch
“Couldn’t be happier with the outcome of our garden project, Alec and his team have done themselves proud. I was anxious over how big a job it was but Alec talked me through the process and steered me in the right direction for keeping costs down but making sure the project was sentimental to the Victorian building. The teams work ethic was faultless, turning up on time, 6 days a week and the whole team were a pleasure to work with. Alec made some excellent design suggestions and decisions that I would never have though about and I trusted him to go with his ideas when I couldn’t be on site. A great company and a great bunch of lads”

They specialise in various decking options, including traditional wood, floating decks, and durable HDPE. Their driveways come with a 5- to 10-year warranty, depending on the materials used, so you’re covered if anything goes wrong.
For fencing, there’s a good mix of choices like classic timber, modern composite, and even noise-reducing panels for those dealing with street noise.

Reliable and professional service with a personal touch
“Jon and his team were fantastic to work with from start to finish nothing was to much trouble for them. Professional and experienced they extended our bin shed area and built a new bin structure to accommodate all the bins you need in Glasgow for recycling. Great work ethic, always on time and the best communication. A shout out to Ralph who spent a day building the bin shed structure, it’s just amazing. Everyone loves the end result and the realistic costs. Would have absolutely no hesitation in using them again and recommending them to others.”

Fantastic work despite the weather
“The team were brilliant from start to finish. Even with the windy weather in Newton Mearns making things tricky, they managed to replace our damaged fence with no fuss and amazing attention to detail. Everything was done with care, and you could tell they really knew what they were doing. We got a few quick quotes before deciding, and theirs was fair and honest with no hidden surprises. Everything ran smoothly, and Ralph did an incredible job on the fence, it’s solid, straight, and looks fantastic. Honestly couldn’t be happier and would definatly recommend them to anyone. Thanks for a top-notch job!”

Efficient and quality patio installation
“Got in touch with these guys after seeing their sign outside a garden a couple of streets down from me. Had been looking to get a patio built in front of our flat for a couple of years but various things had held it up and most places couldn’t get started for months.I emailed GLG and got a reply within about 15 minutes and Bill came round a few days later to look at it. Went over what they would do, how long it would take, when they could start and what it would cost – nice and straightfoward which was great. The lads were out about a week later and did everything in a day, which included removing everything that was already there, putting the foundations down and then the patio, and tidying everything up afterwards. The work actually started a lot sooner than I expected as I think they had some slots suddenly appearing so it was a pretty quick decision to go through with it all but we had already been thinking about it for 2+ years and it was a rare treat for a job to start weeks before you expect it to (usually the opposite!). I hadn’t actually seen an example of what the finished job would look like in terms of the stones etc but Bill said they would be able to use stones that would match the building and it is exactly how I had hoped it would look, so they definitely know what they are doing. They also tidied up the old stone wall a bit at the front which is admittedly falling apart. Very impressed by the quality of work and no nonsense approach. I didn’t end up going around for comparisons between other companies as I didn’t end up getting a response from a couple and to be honest can’t imagine anyone else could have done a better job.”

5. Exteria Landscapes

Address: 122 Strathmore Rd
Phone: +44 141 363 0325
Business hours: Monday to Saturday – 8 AM to 6 PM
Exteria Landscapes, run by Jonathan Crossan, offers landscaping and garden design across central Scotland. They handle work such as paving, decking, artificial grass, and planting.
They partnered with Briarlea Landscapes, Scotland’s largest landscaping company, so they can take on more projects without staffing issues. With their expanded team, they provide complete landscaping solutions for homes, businesses, and public spaces.
I also think it’s noteworthy that the owner has a degree in Horticulture and Landscape Management and has designed over 100 gardens since 2005.
Their services cover both design and construction, including patios, driveways, walls, fencing, and turfing. They also offer full garden design packages with consultations, site survey, and detailed planting plans.
All their work is fully insured, with £1 million in Public Liability and £10 million in Employers Liability Insurance. Additionally, they provide follow-up services if issues arise, like fixing paving affected by frost.
They offer free consultations and can schedule regular visits for ongoing work.
However, their focus on low-maintenance designs may not suit those looking for more complex or high-maintenance gardens. Additionally, they don’t offer financing options, which could be a drawback for clients planning larger projects.
Personal and professional service
“A really personal and professional service right from when we first contacted Jonathan to when the work was finished. He helped us work out how to make our design a reality within our budget by listening to our ideas and coming up with creative solutions. The first stage of our garden work has now been completed and it is already completely transformed it. What I really liked was how everyone on the team was so lovely and approachable and how I did not have to worry at all about any part of the process. Thank you.”

Transformative garden remodel
“We had Jonathan and his team work on a smaller job in the front garden three years ago and were very happy, so were keen to get him on board with a major remodel of our back yard, side path and drive. We are absolutely delighted with the results; it has transformed the area and we love it. We were also very impressed with how hard working and well-mannered his young team were. If there was anything left of our garden to makeover, I wouldn’t hesitate to get in touch again.”
