Address: 333 Woodlands Rd

Phone: +44 141 212 3389

Operating Hours: Open daily – 7:30 AM to 10:30 PM

Show Schedule

I’ve been to The Stand Comedy Club in Glasgow a few times, and it never disappoints. The intimate setting makes for a great atmosphere, whether it’s a weekend stand-up show or a Red Raw beginners’ night where you get to see fresh talent in action.

I remember attending Melanie Bracewell’s show and laughing non-stop at her sharp humour. Her bit about being remembered with the egg analogy caught me off guard (in the best way), and when Ray O’Leary joined in with his deadpan delivery, it became even funnier.

If you’re a regular, the membership is worth considering, especially for early access to big-name shows. It also gets you discounts on tickets, including a £5 entry to Red Raw, which is a solid deal for a midweek comedy fix.

Pro Tip:

One thing to keep in mind is that the Glasgow venue doesn’t serve hot food, so it’s best to grab a bite beforehand. That said, the bar has snacks like crisps and chocolate, and the drink prices are reasonable for a night out.

The Glee Club Glasgow

Website: https://www.glee.co.uk/

Address: 11 Renfrew St

Phone: +44 871 472 0400

Show Schedule

The Glee Club Glasgow offers great Friday and Saturday nights when they bring in top comedians. The club also hosts events such as music performances, drag, cabaret and burlesque shows, spoken word talks, and even family-friendly events.

I attended Lady Bunny’s performance here, and her outrageous humour and sharp-witted satire had the entire room roaring. The show was even better since their phone policy keeps distractions to a minimum.

Food and drinks are available, with some shows allowing pre-orders through MyGlee. I usually grab a drink at the bar before the show, and their selection of craft beers and cocktails is pretty solid.

Pro Tips:

  • Book your tickets in advance to secure your spot and avoid higher door prices. If you’re paying at the door, seats with your group aren’t guaranteed, so plan ahead!
  • If you’re looking for a fun way to celebrate the holidays, book a Christmas comedy special at The Glee Club. With great comedians, a festive menu, and an after-party, it’s an easy way to make your Christmas plans memorable.

The Comedy Cabaret is known for hosting some of the best stand-up comedy acts in the UK, including top TV comedians. The venue has a rich history and continues to offer a great space for unforgettable comedy nights.

I saw Stephen Buchanan perform there, and he had the whole room laughing from the moment he stepped on stage. His clever observations about everyday life had me laughing non-stop, and his effortless delivery made it even more enjoyable.

Shows typically run for about 1.5 hours, with a short 30–40 minute interval for drinks and bathroom breaks. After the show, there’s live acoustic music, which is a great way to wind down and keep the night going.

Pro Tip:

The Comedy Cabaret offers gift vouchers starting at £20 for a premium seat for one person. For a group experience, you can get a VIP booth for up to six guests with Prosecco for £100, a great way to enjoy the show in style.

Looking for Laughs is a unique comedy show that blends the unpredictability of a real blind date with the hilarious spontaneity of improv. The highlight is watching two strangers meet live on stage, blindfolded, while the comedy crew improvises jokes.

I’ve been to the show twice, and it’s always a riot. The improv artists take whatever happens during the date, whether awkward or charming, and turn it into comedy gold that leaves you in stitches.

There’s never a dull moment with all the audience interaction sprinkled throughout. The best part? You get to ask the dates anything you want in the second half and even decide their fate.

Pro Tip:

Arrive early to grab a good seat and get settled before the show starts. The earlier you are, the better the view of the hilarious blind date and the improv sketches that follow!

I’ve been a few times and always have a blast watching new comedians perform. The open mic format keeps things exciting.

The comedy room opens at 7 pm, and the pub’s doors open at 5 pm. The venue also offers free Wi-Fi, so you can stay connected if you need to, and there’s a full menu available if you get hungry during the show.

I was lucky enough to catch one of their shows with Ross Leslie as the host. His quick wit and hilarious banter had the crowd laughing non-stop, and his interactions with the audience made the whole night feel special.

If you’re there for a full night out, I highly recommend trying some of their delicious BBQ food or grabbing a drink from the bar. They serve a range of bourbon and have two breaks between acts, so you’ve got plenty of time to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

Pro Tip:

If you’re new to stand-up comedy, take a moment to research the comedian before booking your tickets. A quick search online can give you a good sense of their style and whether you’ll enjoy their humour.

The Pavilion Theatre is a historic venue with a large seating capacity of 1,450, offering comedy shows and performances. With its beautiful Edwardian design and intimate atmosphere, it’s an ideal spot for live entertainment.

I saw “The Pub Landlord” live, and his no-nonsense humour and clever social commentary made the night unforgettable.

The good news is there’s a chance that meet-and-greet opportunities are available for select events. If so, these will be clearly listed on the event page, so you can easily check ahead if you’re excited to meet the performers!

Glasgow Improv Theatre – The GIT

– Media from improvglasgow

Website: https://improvglasgow.co.uk/

Address: Old Hairdressers, Renfield Ln

Operating Hours: Every Tuesday – 7 PM to 11 PM

Show Schedule

Glasgow Improv Theatre is the heart of the city’s improv scene, offering performances in long-form improv comedy. I love how the shows feel completely unpredictable. Every scene is built on the spot, making each performance a one-of-a-kind experience.

One of my favourite nights was watching Elaine Malcolmson perform as the guest monologist. Her dry wit and perfectly timed storytelling had the audience hooked before the improvisers even jumped in to bring her stories to life.

Shows typically last around 1.5 hours, with plenty of audience interaction throughout.

Pro Tips:

  • GIT also offers beginner’s drop-in workshops, perfect for trying improv in a fun, no-pressure setting. If you’re hooked, the 8-week GIT 101 course is the best way to build skills and confidence!
  • If you’re an aspiring improv performer, GIT’s House Team auditions in July/August are your chance to shine. Having experience with The Harold—especially through GIT 301—will give you a solid edge!

I checked out All Mouth, a comedy show featuring some of Scotland’s best LGBTQ+ acts, and it was a riot! The lineup was sharp, diverse, and full of energy.

Comedy fans should also check out Open Sauce, an open-mic night where new and seasoned comedians test out fresh material. With a rotating lineup and a laid-back vibe, it’s always an unpredictable and hilarious night out.

You can support a good cause by purchasing The Rum Shack’s fundraising t-shirt, with all profits going to JCWI to support immigrants’ legal rights. Available in two designs, each for £20 plus postage, featuring custom artwork.

18 Candleriggs is a lively event space, offering a variety of experiences, including comedy, cabaret, and private events. I recently visited for a comedy night, and the atmosphere was fantastic with a great mix of seasoned comedians and new acts.

The comedy night I attended had an amazing host, Jane Godley, who had everyone laughing right from the start. Although the new acts had some ups and downs, it didn’t take away from the fun of the night.

For a complete night out, the venue’s food and service are great, with my steak pie being one of the best I’ve had.

To secure your booking at the venue, you’ll need to pay a 50% deposit of the hire cost. Make sure to arrange this early to guarantee your reservation.
